Preservation Tree Services joins RETREET & The Texas Trees Foundation in Replacing Trees Lost in the Rowlett Tornado
January 3, 2017
Could tree planting be part of your New Year’s resolution? Yes! Whether you are planting one large shade tree in your own landscape, or a dozen trees as part of a school event, every tree planted benefits future generations by cleaning their air, shading structures from our blazing Texas sun, and adding aesthetic value to where we live, work and play.
Helping Rowlett Replant
On December 26th 2015, Rowlett, Texas was devastated by an EF4 tornado. A total of 1,344 homes suffered either minor damage or were completely destroyed, businesses were lost or forced to close temporarily, totalling an estimated $1.2 billion in damages. The community rallied together to help replace what was lost and offer each other hope and support. Now, a year later, the homes, businesses and city infrastructure are rebuilding.
Preservation Tree Services works to not only maintain established trees, but has also made a commitment to help the Texas Trees Foundation plant more than 3-million trees over the next few years. We put this effort into place on December 10, 2016 as a sponsor of the Rowlett RETREET urban reforestation project. RETREET is helping Rowlett replace the thousands of trees lost in the 2015 tornado. This volunteer event follows a year of difficult recovery that devastated so many families and businesses. We were honored to be a part of the nearly 200 volunteers who planted 243 trees at 152 home sites that will become part of the new Rowlett urban forest. It was a great way to end the year and we look forward to taking part in the future tree planting events in Rowlett.
From all of us at Preservation Tree Services, we are wishing all of you wonderful start to the New Year!
