Delving into Professional Tree Inventories with the City of Fort Worth

Preservation's Urban Forestry Specialist, Micah Pace, recently provided professional education and training to the City of Fort Worth's Citizen Forester Workshop on the subject of tree inventories. Covering a wide range of details pertaining to the Urban Tree Inventory Systems, Micah discussed how to plan for and implement a professional tree inventory project.

The audience learned about the available mapping tools and their advantages when conducting the field work. Micah also covered how to analyze and manage useful data for enhanced urban forest management. As he points out, professional tree inventories are the first step towards accomplishing tree preservation during construction and how they are key to the purposeful management of the urban forest resource.

Tapping into his history of assisting other civic communities over the years, Micah shared project examples completed in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including inventories and assessments for the cities of Arlington, Denton, Irving, Mesquite and Plano.
